American Guy Dolls

After hosting Traveling JD for a while, our girls here thought that they'd like to have some brothers too. So I found these two AG dolls (formerly #21 and Samantha) and customized them to look like my real sons around age 11.

Meet Rosco and Charlie

We gave these to the boys at Christmas and they were very pleased to meet themselves in doll form. We also bought a few of the older GoT outfits that looked more boyish (they both are wearing genuine AG outfits in the picture above.)

So now we have too many AG dolls to take a group photo. There are 32 (18") American Girl (and Guy) dolls, 3 Bitty Twins, 2 Hopscotch Hill School girls, 1 Girl of Many Lands (Isabel) and 21 mini (6 1/2") American Girl Dolls here at AGRescue.

Traveling Dolls

I've had a couple of questions from readers about Traveling Dolls so I've made this entry to help explain things.

First, I'd like to take a minute to help explain what the Traveling Dolls are and why I don't post about them anymore. You see, the Travelers COME to my house. They aren't my dolls. They belong to other members of the doll forum. Their owners have decided that their dolls want to see the country (or the world) and send them out to different hosts for two or so weeks at a time. While the doll is staying with me I will post pictures of their activities while at my house. When they leave, I can't post any more about them because that's up to the next and subsequent hosts to post.

I miss JD, Kealoha, Meadow, Alex, Cordelia, Nora, Sadie and Toast, but they are either still traveling around visiting other states, or have gone home for a visit or permanently. You can read about some of those travelers on their own blogs which are linked on my side bar. Some of the travelers don't have their own blogs, so we can't keep up with them anymore. Ah, fun times with all of them.

Second, If you are an adult and a member of an AG Doll Collectors Club (such as AGPlaythings) you might be selected by a Traveling Doll owner to host his or her doll for a couple weeks. Most forums won't allow collectors under the age of 13 to join for legal reasons.

One word of caution also, owners don't normally send out their dolls to new members and never to those under 18. There are just too many problems that could arise in either case.

I hope this answers some of your questions and concerns about the Travelers.

Bitty Twins!

YAY! We finally have some boys in our American Girl collection! Yesterday my dh found a for-sale post on our local Craigslist for these precious Bitty Twin boys that were almost brand new and still in their box.

They even still have the new doll smell. Poor little guys needed a new home, so now they are welcome home by their 29 (18") sisters and one Bitty Twin, Dusty.

Meet Wayne and Garth, our newest members of AGRescue.

Gifts!

We had a gift swap on the doll forum that I belong to and I received my surprise package in the mail today.  Here are Maggie and Kaya with their new AG back-pack and a tray of fimo Christmas cookies!

Thanks, MrsMac and the WeeMacs!

Ready for Christmas!

Okay, so I guess I haven't updated in a while and someone (I won't mention any names) has repeatedly asked me to. So here's a couple of pictures of my girls getting ready for Christmas.

Some of the mini-girls decorating their tree.

The girls who actually have a Christmas outfit standing on the mantel being all festive.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

I forgot to post that JD left November 1st and has gone on to visit other homes.

Goodbye new friends at AGR!  I'll remember my visit forever!

Fall Festival with JD

Yesterday was Fall Festival at the Girls' Dorm so JD dressed up as a Tennessee Titans football player and joined in the festivities.

YAY for the beautiful Fall decorations outside the dorm!

I got to play games like ring the scarecrow...

....and Plinko and I won prizes of CANDY!

I got to decorate a cookie as one of the games...

....and bob for more candy.

It was lots of fun, but I think I've had too much candy....ooof.

More Stuff with JD

It's so much fun to have JD visiting with us. He's a great house guest.

Baby Polly and I enjoy a time of 'outdoor' fun with the TreeHouse Swing.

I got to go to a Knoxville Ice Bears hockey game! That was lots of fun, even if they didn't win. This picture is from pre-game warm-ups. That's why there are so many players on the ice (and so few fans in the stands.)

I even got to get up-close and personal with one of the Ice Bears Hunnies. This beautiful lady even recognized me as (formerly) being an American Girl. We briefly talked about her having, who else, Samantha.

JD enjoys Dollywood

JD took a trip to Dollywood Amusement Park in Tennessee this weekend.

First I got all buckled up in the doll-sized car seat for the trip.

After about 30 minutes in the car, we were there!

Dollywood was having their Harvest Celebration so everything was
all decorated for Autumn. It was so pretty.

I got to eat a nice, home cooked meal at Granny Ogle's.
No, I didn't eat ALL this cornbread, but it surely was delicious.

I got to play the pick-a-duck (or frog) game.

And I took a fun ride on the Carousel.

I did NOT ride the Mystery Mine. That looks a bit scary.

I had a great day and the weather was perfect!
I can't wait to see what I get to do next at AmericanGirlRescue!

Too Early?

JD has been having lots of fun with the motorcycles at AGR. Maybe too much fun.

Is it too early to fire up the dirt-bikes, Charlie?

JD relaxes

I thought I'd post a couple more pictures of JD; he really hasn't done too much lately.

Rusty and I pose in our "Sunday Best" before we head out to church.

Just chillin' in my room with a great book!

Enjoying a bit of NASCAR, the PS2 way.

Treehouse Triumph

JD has Cerebral Palsy and can't run and climb like other children. Now that he has his glasses, he can better see what the other children are doing, but joining in is another challenge.

I noticed that in the backyard of AGR is a really grand, human-sized tree house!
It looks like fun, but how can I get up there to play?

Willow, Marisol and Adele devise a plan to help me get up into the tree house.

AAAAAAAHHHHH! Here I go! Whoa, steady there, Adele!

 Almost there!

YAY! With the girls' help, I'm able to play up here with them!
Thanks, new friends!

Nellie arrives!

Since Ivy arrived a couple months ago, we decided that the rest of the Historical best-friends would have to eventually come to live at American Girl Rescue.  Arriving brand new from AG last week, meet Nellie.

Welcome to Nellie!

JD can see!

We were noticing that JD didn't seem to be able to see things far away and we were concerned for him. So we had his eyes checked:

It turned out that I could hardly see at all; I needed glasses!

I selected these brown, oval glasses and now I can see more of this
beautiful part of the country in east Tennessee.

First off, I noticed the beautiful rolling hills and the hay being harvested.

And I could see the colorful fall leaves!

Oh, and the ground dried up so I got to take a spin on the dirt bike!
AAAAAAAAAHHH!

Fun Stuff with JD

Just a few things JD has done so far hanging out at AGR.

I was having a little trouble waking up, but then I discovered NOS.

After breakfast I got to play dominoes with Jess, Kit and Nicki

The dog that lives here is much bigger than Rusty.

We went to the college cafeteria (Dining Facility is it's proper name) for some lunch.
I like pizza.

The best part was dessert: some great apple cobbler.
Unfortunately this student thought I looked like a snack.

It's really too bad that it's a bit rainy and the track is muddy. This motorcycle looks like it's gonna be a BLAST to play with. I hope it clears up soon.

Traveling JD arrives

Jagdish is a boy traveling doll. He's traveling for the very first time and we get to be his first hosts! Here is JD meeting some of the girls who live in the Dolls' House.

JD happened to arrive in time to share lunch time with Rosa, the new girl.

Wednesday is piano lesson day, so JD got to play a little on the piano himself.

The song he learned just happened to be his favorite Queen tune.

Being that Maggie had to go the Hospital this week, JD gets to have his own room in the TreeHouse.

We hope that JD and Rusty will have a grand time with us here at AGR.
